christmas horses and dog agility

on friday i took buster to dog agility! when we got there, you could just see the look on the trainer's face..."oh no, this dog won't do anything!" and buster was amazing for his first week! everybody was surprised! and on saturday night me and mary were going to ride in a christmas parade that horses could ride in. there was another horse there with bells all over it and pocket was scared of all the bells... after we put the saddles on pockets and porsha, we were making glow-stick neclaces for them. one of them fell off of porsha and pocket almost stepped on it and i said, "pockets, you'll step on that and your feet'll glow for the next 12 hours." mary said "that's a great idea!" then we started cutting them open and putting them all over the horses! they were glowing for a few minutes and then the glow faded away. :-( at the front of the parade there were fire trucks and in the middle there was a big truck that people could ride on and then the horses were in the back. the firetrucks were supposed to stay at the front of the parade so that they wouldn't scare the horses with the sirens. but one firetruck got behind the horses, and some big draft horses got scared and mary's friend darla's horse got scared and took off running and bucked her off :-O so we took darla home she's okay that's good

Oh Christmas tree.....

a few days ago we got a christmas tree!! socks has been climbing it and eating it and he'll tip it over any day now. we haven't decorated it yet, but me and alex got down the christmas lights. actually, they kind of fell...alex was supposed to be he helping me (alex won't climb the ladder to get the boxes down, so guess who gets to do it :-*) and they were really heavy and they fell but i caught them and alex got them :-)

Charity Horses

on saturday me and mary took pockets to a charity event where there are well trained horses and disabled kids get to ride them! pockets was really good for the kids. mary led pockets and i walked next to him. but before the kids could ride the horses they needed to get tested to get used to loud noises and being touched and rubbed. they needed to do that 2 times. the first time through i was leading pockets because mary went to get something from the trailer and and pockets was very good and stood still while they rubbed at him and touched him. and then they dropped a metal folding chair to see how the horses reacted to the loud noise. pockets was doing good and then they dropped the chair and he took off.  mary said she was surprised that he did that. so the next time through, one of mary's friends took pocket through. he spooked again. so he had to do the test a few times, but once he got used to the noise he was just fine again. so when we got home after we went to lunch after we were done at the charity event, i chased porsha around the arena to give her some excersise. i wasn't running her too hard because it was cold outside, so mary said not to force her to run, but she could run if she wanted too. porsha started out trotting. then she tried to turn around in a corner of the arena when she was supposed to keep going in a circle. when i didn't let her do that she got mad. that's when she took off running. so once she ran a round a few minutes, she was still breathing really hard so i got on her and rode her around.

sorry i haven't updated my blog in a little while. i'm doing homework today. yesterday we took mrs. mary shopping for glasses. she found some purple ones with flowers on them. we had miguels for lunch. today we are moving sofas in her truck.

for the last 5 days i got to dog-sit gabi's dogs. she sold jag :-( she offered go give him to me and mom wouldn't let me. jag's new owner is coming to get him in a couple of days. :-(

i've been busy busy busy and getting in A LOT of horseback riding which is SOO MUCH FUN. pockets is doing really good and so is porsha and i got to go on a night ride!! we put reflectors on the horses and rode up to an arena where mrs. mary talked to one of her friends. my friend kalen went to colorado this week and she says it was really cold.

pockets in hidden valley

on Sunday i got to ride pocket in hidden valley with mrs. mary and gabi and erin and shawn and hailey!! it was really fun. pocket was very good, he was nice to all of the other horses. after we went riding, we went to the Rodeo Burger for lunch. the rodeo burger is really good :-D. then, me and mrs. mary and gabi and shawn went shopping in the Thrifty Horse, a used horse supply store. it was really interesting, they had halters and saddles and everything! then me and mrs. mary and gabi went to a tack store where me and mrs. mary looked for a pair of reins for me to use with pockets. we didn't find any, but yesterday mrs. mary said that she had found some. i haven't used them yet, but i hope that they're the right length. and yesterday i rode pocket around the arena, and i didn't get to watch but pocket and porsha both got their teeth fixed by the horse dentist, i hope they're doing better.

riding pocket and porsha!

yesterday i got to go over to mrs. mary's and ride pocket and porsha! pocket is getting a really thick coat for winter, but it's hot out! :-o I didn't ride him for too long because his leg was hurting him. so mrs. mary said i could ride porsha around! she was good :-) she was ready to go, though. she kept trotting! last week, i was going over to ride pocket. i went into the backyard and there was hay EVERYWHERE. there was a flower pot tipped over, and there were buckets turned over in the yard. i turned around and pocket had his head sticking out of the tack room and he was munching on some grain.  i looked over and the arena gate was standing open, just enough for pocket to walk out. mrs. mary forgot to lock it, and pocket just pushed it open with his nose. i put him back in the (locked) arena, and went to tell mrs. mary. she asked me if he ate the carrots, and i hadn't seen any carrots anywhere. she said that they were in a big green bucket, and i said that there was a big bucket upside down in the middle of the yard...pocket ate the whole thing, lots of grain, and some hay :-o and, according to mrs. mary, a couple of days ago he did it again! :-)

last weekend i went to kalens to celebrate her b-day i stayed for 3 days and on sunday we went horseback riding. i rode a brown horse named Rolly. kalen rode a black horse named Magic, and mrs. clutter rode a light brown horse named Reno. rolly was good, i trotted a lot on him, but he would not stop or turn around. this week for Geography mrs. davidson gave us a HUGE pile of homework. i tried to staple it together but the stapler could not go through the paper. also, this afternoon i'm going horseback riding with mrs. mary. :-D

well i just looked up my birthday on google to see if it was a holiday.  it is ;-D. Not only is it National Cheese Souffle Day and Rooster Day, it's also International Museum Day. :-D. I just had to share that. :-D:-D:-D

LOPING POCKET!!!!!!

yesterday after icap i got to go ride pocket with mrs. mary!! it was really fun, and pocket loped up 2 hills!! and i didn't fall off and it was really fun!!!! mrs. mary's right--he is like a rocking horse when he lopes.

kalen and pocket!! :-D

HAPPY B-DAY, KALEN!!!!! to celebrate, we took kalen over to ride pocket!! we picked her up from school and blindfolded her. we told her we were going hiking, and that there were mountain lions, snakes, and trantulas on the trail. then we told her we had to go to the store real quick because we forgot our first aid kit ;-). she was FREAKING OUT and it was really funny!! she was saying, 'i don't want to get bit by a snake and die!!!!' we had the radio on, and me and mom were laughing because the song 'if i die young ' came on! anyway, at the store we got cupcakes (she was still blindfolded) and then drove to mrs. mary's house. she still had her blindfold on, and all the dogs started barking and she turned and started screaming and running!! she really liked pocket and porsha!! mrs. mary had me trotting on porsha. it doesn't look slow until you're off of porsha. but it was really fun!! then kalen got on porsha and trotted!! she did good!! then we rode around the arena for a while. after that, kalen wanted to go on a trail, so mrs. mary put lead lines on the horses and we took them around the block. we came back and took off their saddles and brushed them, then we took porsha into the arena and sat on her bareback!! she's really slippery. then, we put pockets and porsha back in their stalls with dinner and carrots. :-D then, mrs. mary showed us pictures of pocket barrel racing and porsha and old horse sample. i never got to meet sample :-( but mrs. mary says he was a good horse. then we sat down and and ate cupcakes. it was SOOOO much fun!!

i'm REALLY busy today i already went walking this morning and violin in an hour then we have to take alex shopping for jeans after violin and then i have to come do math and homework and then (YES!!!) i might get to go out riding on pocket with mrs. mary woo hoo!! also, i get to go to agility class with jag tonight

TROTTING!!!!!!!

today i TROTTED ON PORSHA!!! that's the second time i've trotted on her. i trot on pocket all the time, but he is less bumpy so it's not as hard. she felt like she was going REALLLY fast but mrs. mary says she's only going as fast as pockets but he has a shorter stride so it feels like he's going slower. also, mrs. mary is teaching me the right technique for barrel racing!! she had me walking around a bucket on porsha. it was really fun!!!! :-)

yesterday i braided pocket's tail for mrs. mary and then porsha's tail. neither of them paid too much attention to me 'cuz they had food ;-)

anacapa island, diving, and sea lions

this weekend we went diving at anacapa island!!! we did 3 dives. we saw A BUNCH OF SEA LIONS!!!! there were TONS of them!! we were on the boat 'spectre'. the cook's name was shannon, too!! after the last dive she made brownie sundaes! they were GOOD!!! all of the dives went good, but on the 3rd dive, we were doing compass skills. we did everything fine on the surface...then, we couldn't get it right underwater. so, dad took us up to the surface and explained it again. we went under again, and lost 2 people from our group and had to surface again. we went down again, and surfaced again. everybody was having trouble with their ears and we kept surfacing over and over again, so dad decided that we had to stop the dive. so we went back to the boat, and dad did a fun dive with a couple people from our group. he told me i couldn't go just because i was having so much trouble equalizing my ears. so me and courtney hung out in the hot tub ;-) it was really nice :-) on the ride over to anacapa, we saw a bunch of dolphins!! some got right next to the boat. there was even a baby dolphin!! and some jellyfish. it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much fun!!!

running jag

TONIGHT I GOT TO RUN JAG IN HIS CLASS!! it was SOOOOOO much fun!! we went through it a few obstacles at a time, and then if we had trouble our teacher would go through it with us. mom tried to take pictures, but it was too dark. it was SOOOOO much fun!!!

a few weeks ago i was taking care of a few (a bunch) of dogs and horses, and there was a dog named Jag. he's an agility dog! tonight i might get to go to training with him. i hope i get to go! go to www.settlersaustralianshepherds.com and you can see a video of Jag under 'boys' and then 'Red Hot Jaguar'. that's Jag's name--Red Hot Jaguar! he's such a SWEET dog, he loves attention. he's a red austalian shepherd!

icap and pockets

well icap was good today, i planned to get up EARLY this morning (5:30. 15 minutes earlier than usual :-) haha) but i felt like sleeping so i hit the snooze button... it's not quite as chilly at 7:20!! after icap i got to ride pocket for an hour, he's doing good! oh, and at icap this afternoon right as everybody was leaving it started to rain kinda hard!! i'm glad it stopped so i could ride pockets. at lunch, student council hosted "Fall Fun Day." me and karli worked at the 'ball toss' game. there are three buckets. you have to throw the balls into a bucket. it sounds easy but is apparently harder than it looks...i was surprised. especially when i tried it. (hahaha)

hot rain

well, like half an hour ago it was really sunny and hot...now it's cloudy and hot!! it was raining just a little a few minutes ago, and there's some wind.... last night we had some lightning, and it was really BRIGHT!!! i hope it rains some more :-)

happy birthday, mrs. mary!!! her birthday isn't until sunday, but we had a 'party' for her this morning!! every morning, we walk about 3 miles at 6:00 a.m. and she was coming to our house to walk (across the golf course, down to rite aid, and back up the golf course.) and i got up at 6:00 (we were going to walk at 6:30) and decorated the back yard with a banner and ribbons, and yesterday i made (triple) chocolate cupcakes!! chocolate cupcakes, chocolate frosting, and m&ms on top. we gave her a rug that she liked, and i made her Pet Bling for her dog, angel. it was really fun!! i would have wrote about our party planning yesterday but i didn't have time.

SCUBA CLASS!!!!!

well last night we had our first scuba class....in the pool!!!! yay!! it was sooooo much fun. first, it took us a long time to get into our gear (it was hard!!) and then we stood in the shallow 4-foot end going over techniques, then we went underwater (in the shallow end) and practiced them, then we went into the deep 12-foot end!!!!!! we just swam around getting used to it for a few minutes, then we went back up, and we went over more techniques, including clearing and replacing our masks. we had to keep them off for a whole minute. i had a moment of panic when i took mine off..... i couldn't see AT ALL. then, we did some swim tests. then, we packed up our gear. it was really fun!! for some reason, i used almost twice as much air as everybody else. dad had to fill up my tank halfway through. but it was really really really really fun!!!!!

National Disc Dog COmpetition

a girl from icap named LylaClare is elligible to compete in a national disc competition with her dog elsie!! today we went to a fundraiser raffle party for her. i donated a blue pet bling necklace. LylaClare performed with Elsie, but i didn't get to see it because mom had to leave to go her dance class. Lyla Clare and Elsie are going to compete in Tennessee!!

SCUBA

welll on wednesday we had our first scuba class!!! it was really fun. we have a big class, about 7 or 8 people. next wednesday is the first pool dive (i have to get over my cold so it's safe for me to go in the water!) and on monday we have a classroom class. i'm really excited!!

yesterday dad and alex came to meet pocket!! he was real good. i rode him around the arena, and for once i got him to trot, which is miraculous because he hadn't had his daily joint medicine yet. it was really fun.

LOL!!! POCKETS!! :) !!!

mrs.mary took me riding in hidden valley again and it was SOOOO MUCH FUN!!!! pocket was doing great, and he didn't have trouble when i asked him to trot and we were riding with brigit and madoline and sean (or is it shawn??) we were riding for about 2 and 1/2 hours. at one point, pocket grabbed this really big leafy weed and pulled it out of the ground, and he was carrying it around in his mouth!! he looked really funny, and he looked so pleased with himself. later, mrs. mary and porche went around a bend and pocket and me and brigit fell behind (a long ways) and pocket was sooo upset 'cuz he couldn't find porche... he kept running forward and neighing really loud. he was real happy when he caught up with everyone, and he didn't really fall behind very far after that. afterwards, i went to get off of pocket, and i got on the ground and my foot was caught in the stirrup and i fell off of him!! mrs. mary didn't realize until brigit was looking shocked at me on the ground.. it was really funny!! pocket wasn't even moving. i was laughing and said that i would have to work on my graceful dismout. hahaha!! :) at least last time i fell off of pocket, he was actually MOVING!!! lol :)

crazy cat!!:-o

this morning socks is going CRAZY!!! he slept all day yesterday and he is FULL OF ENERGY!!! he keeps jumping up and sticking to the back of the sofa with his claws...and when he digs them into your hand, it hurts!! maybe i can hold him down and get his claws trimmed... maybe

moving, tarping, hole-filling...

well, on monday we moved almost EVERYTHING out of the living room (except the furniture), and yesterday we were SUPPOSED to tarp everything, but mom was too busy dragging us to 3 targets, trying to find a pot for her gardenia..... we FINALLY found it!! hopefully, this afternoon we're gonna start painting! :-) i tried to find a good picture of the paint, but i don't have anything..... yet!!

remodeling!! yard work!!

well on friday, we cleaned up our front yard!! mrs. mary came over and helped. it took all of us almost 4 HOURS!!! :-0 anyway, our yard looks GREAT!! the bushes are trimmed, the weeds are gone,we can open the gate all the way, which we have never been able to do 'cuz of weeds, and apparently we had a hose by the pool... we had to use bush shears to cut the hose out. poor hose. and tomorrow, we are going to start painting the living room!!! mom picked the color 'crepe'. we got new curtains (i'm not too fond of them) and a new cabinet and we might be getting new carpet, i don't know. me and mom just finished taking pictures; we're doing before and after pics. i'll post them when we're done!! mrs. mary is going to help us 'cuz she's REALLY good at decorating and stuff like that.

trail ride

yesterday i got to ride pocket!! me, mrs. mary, brigit, and madoline rode in hidden valley at 8:30 (a.m.) we rode for about 2 hours, and it was REALLY FUN!!!!!! but pocket kept falling behind everybody, and i would have him trot and he would trot for a few steps and then start cantering!! :-0 and now, i know that i can stay on him when he canters!! :) i told mrs. mary that it felt like he was going 100 miles an hour, and she said that pocket was hardly moving and that he could go a lot faster. but i still think he was going really fast. we even went through some water! :) after we were done riding, we went to the rodeo burger for lunch. i had pancakes and they were delicious!! it was really fun

well this morning i was SOOOO BORED..... mom was going with mrs. mary to one of the houses that mrs. mary cleans because they were selling some furniture because they are moving and she was taking a LONG TIME so i called her to see what was taking her so long and she said she was looking at yard sales, and then about 45 minutes later she FINALLY came home--and mrs. mary was with her!! they were going to buy a hanging lamp thing for 20 dollars and it was a great deal but they only bought one 'cuz they didn't know if it would match anything, so they went to buy another one 'cuz it looked GREAT and they had raised the price to 50!!! :-0 so we ended up not buying them (i went with them after they came back) after that, we went to a few more yard sales and mrs. mary got a dog food dispenser, and i found some really cute dishes with cats on them, and she bought me a plate and a cup with 2 orange cats on them!! thank you, mrs. mary!! mom bought a metal stool thingy, and some curtains, some clothes, a game--and i don't know if she got anything else! :) after that, we went back mrs.mary's house and she told me that if i wanted to i could go with her to buy horse feed!! it was really fun. at the feed store, they had birds and baby chicks and goats and a HUGE mountain of hay. then, me and mrs. mary had lunch at taco bell and i offered to help her unload her horse feed, but she said that it was too hot to do it right now, so she dropped me off at home. it was really fun!! i also got to take pocket and porsha some carrots!! mrs. mary mixed them in with some grain and gave it to them. i would have given it to them, but i was in sandels so i couldn't go in their stalls 'cuz i have to be in closed toe shoes.

more pocket!!

yesterday AND wednesday i got to ride pocket!! on wednesday me and mrs. mary took them on a trail by her house that went down by camino real and then up into the hills a little bit. pocket trotted most of the way in on the hill. it was really fun!! then, yesterday, i rode pocket a bit around the arena and then mrs. mary started giving me another lesson!! it was really fun. then, she wanted to have me practice trotting on pocket some more and it all went really well until pocket started to slow down and i gave him a little kick and he started CANTERING!! it was only 3 or 4 steps but i almost fell off of him. i'm glad i stayed on!! i didn't know that pocket could go that fast. the fastest i've gone is trotting, and i'm definetely not ready to start cantering yet. trotting is like jogging, cantering is running, and galloping is like sprinting.

HORSE SHOE DISASTER

well we just came back from babysitting pocket...... i was walking over to mom to get the car keys to get the broom out of the car and i noticed something in the grass. it was one of pocket's horseshoes!! he had thrown it halfway across the yard!!! my theory is that he got spooked and ran and it flew off. anyway, mom called mrs. mary and she called the person who puts on the horseshoes and he is coming tomorrow at 9:30. mrs. mary said she was glad that we called 'cuz pocket losing a shoe is a BIG DEAL because if he walks around on his hoof without a shoe for too long then his hoof will chip and he won't be able to get a new shoe

Trellis Gardenias

mom went on a lowe's garden shopping spree today!! she bought 3 trellis gardenias that are HUGE (like trees). she also bought a goliath tomato plant (i'm not joking, that's what it's called) and a jasmine flower plant. then she went to the 99cent store. this weekend i'm taking care of pocket and im SOOOOO excited!!! also, porsha's leg is doing better.

i'm at at papa and bb's new house in beamont!! it's awesome!!! we just had french toast for breakfast and went to bb's bff's wedding last night (the cake was really good---lemon!!) came home and stayed up late watching a movie! were gonna be here all day

Mission San Juan Capistrano

today, grandma deedo took us up near mission san juan capistrano!!!! we didn't go look in the mission, but we wandered around in the town. we took the 8:45 metrolink down there, then we had brunch at a GREAT little place called cafe mozart. mom and grandma had quiche with veggies and me and alex had french toast!!! it was REALLY good!!!!! after that we wandered around and then we went through some shops. after that we went down past the mission, and all of the bells started ringing!!! it was really LOUD and AWESOME!!!!! about an hour later, we went to a place where i don't remember what it was called, but we had desert. it was a little....weird. the sugar was in tubes in a little tin bucket, it was outside, and instead of cups, we had old jam jars. (??????) anyway, i had doughnut-ish things, alex and mom had berry and banana shortcake with berries, and grandma had chocolate cake that was REALLY chocolat-y. across the street, someone had some pet chickens!!! they were really cute. after that, we went in search of a craft fair that we saw a sign for, but we couldn't find it. we had to stop looking because we had a metrolink to catch. (each metrolink ride was 2 hours). it was REALLY fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh, and by the train tracks there were these giant flowers that looked like fried eggs.

riding pocket

yesterday i got to ride pocket. mrs. mary gave me another lesson on him. i had to work on stopping him, because he would stop and then take an extra step forward. pocket's leg wasn't doing great; he didn't want to listen to me either. mrs. mary said that she would let me ride porsha, but she didn't trust porsha without a bit in her mouth. so mrs. mary rode porsha. pocket wanted to do exactly what porsha was doing and follow porsha. porsha's leg is doing a little better. mrs. mary was trotting on porsha and pocket started trotting too, and it was funny 'cuz i told pocket to walk again (hup hup) and porcha started walking, too!! it was really funny.

Porche's Leg

Well this morning i went walking with mom and her friend Mrs. Mary who lets me ride her horse Pocket. (Go to www.snm.tumblr.com for details) Porche's leg (her other horse who hurt her leg) is doing okay but on friday her leg got infected. she seems to be doing better. this morning i got to see her and pocket. they were both eating breakfast. :)

Socks

This is my kitty socks the first day we brought him home. this is the first time he got out of his shoe box that we used to carry him in the car.

This is the first time i got to ride Pocket!!! last monday i fell off of him when he got spooked and went crazy. pocket is real sweet, he is about 20 years old.
